June Family Weekend 2004

From introduction to weekend

Try and use the weekend to investigate like a detective, how things are, why are things the way there are.
Why is it you like chocolates and do not like kippers?
Why is it you like the smell of perfume and do like the smell of somebody’s arm pits?

Have a sense of wonder about this.

Here some of the activities we did over the weekend

Come and write your name on piece of paper – mix them up- take a name and find the person with that name and then ask them three questions:-

What is there favourite sense
What the most disgusting thing they have ever smelt
What is there favourite colour

Guided meditation of letting go of stress and negativity

walking meditation, in a group. Two circles one inside another, one going one way, one going the other.

Different types of bowing

Craving, Aversion and Equanimity - Imagination

We also read Cocky Colin by Richard Tulloch
Then we asked - how does this effect you senses?

Come up with a statue of the four Brahmaviharas (metta, karuna, mudita, upekkha)

Guided mediation on the way things are

Looking at the senses thru the four levels (physical, ego, social, nonsense)

We also read the story about the Brave little Parrot

With the adults we did focusing
