Young Person Retreat 2007

This year was another full house of young people with a strong mixture of young people from the family camp and outside schools. A film crew from the Clear Vision Trust taking shots for a up and coming video on Buddhism and social cohesion. Also Ajahn Sumedho was giving a Sunday talk on gratitude to parents most of the young people braved the the large crowd to listen to him for one hour.

You can have a look at the time table here

The meditation room was decorated by some older helpers! who thoroughly enjoyed themselves with making some signs around identity, like who am I ....

We looked at the question of who am I? through meditation, through questioning, art and breath and movement, quite a lot in short space of time.

For instance we explored the body and then asked;-

what kind of body is it?
what do value most about it?
who are you right now? and how old?

based on Cheri Hubers book.

We also ran a very quiet quaker style meeting, which was rather special... Quaker style meeting is where you start form silence and just allow yourself to speak when you are really moved.

The highlight of the weekend was watching a few parts of the one giant leap DVD, especially about sex...I leave it there....

have a look here on youtube for a trailer or this one and great review here

It so wonderful for all the helpers to be part of this ongoing dialogue of what it is to be human - thanks very much...
