KITCHEN & HOUSEKEEPING

Kitchen

We offer healthy vegetarian meals that may include eggs and dairy produce. Breakfast and lunch are substantial meals, with a lighter supper such as soup, bread and spreads.

A vegan, non-dairy and wheat/gluten-free option is available on request. Please make this request on your booking form.

Food Allergy/Sensitivity

Whilst the Kitchen Managers endeavour to label any potential 'problem' ingredients, we cannot guarantee to do so.  We also cannot guarantee a nut free environment.

If there is a medical necessity, it may be possible for you to bring your own personal supplies, at the discretion of the kitchen managers.  Please contact the Bookings Coordinator to discuss this (family@amaravati.org)

We are not able to store meat or fish on the premises.

Housekeeping

A 'work period' is set aside during the daily schedule when everyone works together to ensure the smooth running and cleanliness of the Retreat Centre. Everyone who is old enough will be allocated to a ‘daily chore team’ and ‘washing up team’ by the Housekeepers.

Daily chores last for about half an hour and range from chopping vegetables, chopping firewood, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming the corridors and hallways, care of the shrine room, recycling and care of the site. Everyone over 7 years old helps to wash up several times during a weekend or camp.

You are asked to clean your own room on the day of departure.

Please help the team of co-ordinators by not leaving before the clearing-up is finished at the end of each event.
